A quick update has been released for 2Ship2Harkinian-Android , the unofficial port of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask for Android devices, developed by programmer Waterdish from the open-source 2Ship2Harkinian project by the Harbour Masters team .

This porting allows you to play Majora’s Mask natively on Android smartphones and tablets, without having to resort to traditional Nintendo 64 emulators .

The entire project is based on a decompilation work of the original source code of the game, a complex process that allows the title to run with modern optimizations, such as higher frame rates, support for widescreen displays, and customization options, including mods and graphical enhancements.

The new version introduces a pop-up window for the initial file configuration and fixes several bugs that prevented the complete copying of the files needed for the game to run.

Note: The Android port only supports controllers. No touch controls yet, except for the enhancements menu .

Requirements

Probably Android 7+ (OpenGL ES 3.0+ required).
Tested on: Android 14

Installation

Download and install the file 2ship.apkon your Android device.
Open the app at least once. This will generate the directory that will contain the game ROM. Allow all file permissions, then close and reopen the app.
If prompted by the app, select “Yes” to generate an O2R. If prompted to search for a ROM, select “Yes”. Navigate to MM.z64and select it. The extraction should begin.
On next startup, the game will start directly.

Use the controller’s Back/Select/- button or Android’s Back button (swipe left if using gesture controls) to open the enhancements menu. Use touch controls to navigate the menus.

FAQ

Question: Where do I add mods?
Answer: In Android/data/com.dishii.mm/files.

Question: Why does the game crash immediately?
Answer: Try deleting and re-extracting the O2R file ( mm.o2r).

Question: The game opened once, but now it just shows a black screen.
Answer: Reinstall the game and do not increase the MSAA above 1 in Settings->Graphics.

Question: GUI scale is too big/too small.
Answer: There is no option to scale the GUI yet. It will be implemented in a future update.

Question: Gyroscopic aim?
Answer: It will be available when it works in the 2 Ship 2 Harkinian base.

Question: My controller doesn’t do anything.
Answer: Close the enhancements menu. If the enhancements menu isn’t open, open it with the Android back button and check if it’s detected in Settings->Controller->Controller Mapping. If it is, press refresh.

Known bugs

Orientation lock does not work. libsdl-org/SDL#6090
Near plane clipping when camera is close to walls.
Picto box images are rendered black.
