Developer Naim2000 has developed a little program that allows you to easily create a backup of the Wii’s NAND (internal memory) or vWii (Wii mode on the Wii U).

NAND contains crucial data such as the console’s operating system, installed channels, save data, and other system information. This backup is useful for:

Brick Recovery: If the console becomes unusable (bricked) due to incorrect modifications, a NAND backup can be used to restore it via a hardmod.
Safe Modding: Allows you to experiment with homebrew or modifications without the risk of losing permanent data.
Emulation: NAND backups can be used with emulators like Dolphin to replicate the console environment.

Main features

NAND Backup: Save a complete copy of your internal storage to an SD card or USB device. Uses BootMii’s NAND dump format.
BootMii Alternative: It is especially useful for users who don’t have an SD card or prefer an alternative method to BootMii for backup. No modified IOS is required.
Compatibility: Works on both Wii and vWii (Wii U in Wii mode). Pretty fast too. Takes about 4-5 minutes.

Preparation and use

Download the archive .zipand extract it to your PC.
Copy the contents of the archive to the SD card (it must be for example /apps/nanddumper_ios/..).
Launch the Homebrew Channel and select NandDumper@IOS.
Follow the on-screen instructions to start the backup process.
The backup (a file called nand.bin) will be saved to your SD card or USB device.
Please keep the file nand.binin a safe place, as it contains sensitive and unique data for your console.

Note: Do not share your backup, as it includes console-specific encryption keys.
