Nintendo has released system update version 20.1.0 for Nintendo Switch , just days after the launch of the new Switch 2 .

The update, while seemingly minor, brings with it some significant changes that preview the experience that future users of the new console will face.

Among the most noticeable changes is the replacement of the sound that activates when starting the Nintendo Switch Online app from the main menu: the new tone is livelier and more modern, probably the same one that will accompany the Switch 2 .

In addition to this, the NSO app interface has been updated, as have some navigation sounds, bringing it in line with the upcoming console.

Additionally, visual changes have been made to the parental control settings and themes have been updated: “Basic White” and “Basic Black” have been renamed to “Basic Light” and “Basic Dark” respectively, with the latter now also supported within the NSO app.

As an additional technical note, Nintendo notes that to transfer data from Switch to Switch 2 via local communication, you will need to update your console to version 20.1.0.

The new console is scheduled to launch on June 5, and Nintendo is said to be ready to meet demand during the holidays, despite the high demand already seen with pre-orders.
