Microsoft has surprisingly released an update for the Xbox 360 console that addresses the console’s interface, particularly improving the Home screen.
After the official store closed in July 2024, the dashboard was stripped down to the bare essentials, with a sloppy look and noticeable issues such as distorted or missing game thumbnails.
This update, however, did not involve the console kernel, but simply modified an XML file provided directly by the Xbox Live server, which manages the display of content on the Home screen.
With this change, title previews are once again properly displayed. The home screen also now features two large banner ads dedicated to Xbox Series X|S consoles , which take up a significant portion of the visual space.
Despite the invasive advertising, many users have welcomed this small restyling, appreciating the fact that, even if now out of production, the console continues to receive attention that improves the user experience.
