A new update has been released for wafel_sd_usb , better known as SDUSB , the plugin allows us to use an SD partition as a USB memory expansion for the Wii U.

The SDUSB plugin works by creating a second partition formatted with the Wii U console’s native file system , ensuring excellent performance.

The partition is managed intuitively, appearing as a USB device that can be easily accessed via the console’s data management. Additionally, the SDUSB is compatible with several homebrew software, such as SaveMii , WUP Installer , and HAI (for VC Wii titles).

The update introduces an important fix related to the handling of the NTFS hidden partition type , which now uses the value 0x17 instead of 0x27 .

Prerequisites

• A reliable SD card (we recommend using “Endurance” cards from well-known manufacturers).
• A method to run homebrew (ISFShax or defuse recommended)

Configuration

1. Partitioning the SD card

• Windows: Use a tool like Minitool Partition Wizard or EaseUS .
• Linux: Using gparted .
• Create two primary partitions:
  • FAT32: For homebrew (existing or to be created).
  • NTFS: For Wii U games (do not assign a drive letter).
• Resize FAT32 partition and create NTFS partition.
• Align partitions to 64 MiB boundaries and use a multiple of 64 MiB for the size.
• NTFS is not the file system used by the Wii U, it is only used to tell SDUSB which partition to use.

2. Installing the plugin

• Download the latest version of wafel_sd_usb.ipx.
• Place the file in the folder ios_pluginson the SD card or in /sys/hax/ios_pluginssu slc(renaming it to sdusb.ipxfor slc).

Using SDUSB

• Backup. The SDUSB partition will be displayed as a USB device.
• Format SDUSB partition.
• Connect an existing USB storage device and copy the contents to the SDUSB partition.

Known issues

• GC VC Injectes do not work if installed on SDUSB (they run from internal memory).

Changelog
