A new update has been released for NUSGET , the tool created by developer NinjaCheetah that allows you to download various Nintendo contents directly to PC with Windows , macOS and Linux .

The application, developed in Python and Qt6, supports titles from multiple Nintendo platforms, including Wii U and 3DS, allowing you to obtain files in compatible formats for use with emulators or for archiving.
The update introduces a progress bar that visually displays the download progress for TMDs, Tickets, and individual content, located below the log area.
At the moment, this feature is only compatible with Wii/vWii titles, as it depends on specific features present in libWiiPy and absent in libTWLPy . To make room for the new bar, the log area has been slightly reduced, without compromising readability.
Options for customizing the graphic theme and interface language have been added, now changeable via the Options menu .
On macOS, additionally, the configuration file is now saved in the correct system path: ~/Library/Application Support/NUSGet/
, replacing the previous ~/.config/NUSGet/
.
Characteristics
NUSGET allows you to download any content from Nintendo’s update servers . For free content (those with a Ticket freely available on the servers), the files can be decrypted or packaged directly into an installable archive (WAD/TAD).
A particularly useful feature of NUSGET is the ability to create WADs for vWii mode, which can be installed directly from that mode. This is because content downloaded from Nintendo’s servers is designed to be installed only from Wii U mode.
Features available for all consoles
- Download encrypted content (files like
00000000
,00000001
, etc..) directly from the update servers. - Create decrypted content (
*.app
) from encrypted content on servers (free titles only).
For Wii and vWii titles
- “Pack into installable archive (WAD/TAD)” : Allows you to package encrypted content, TMDs and Tickets into a WAD file that can be installed on the Wii or Dolphin emulator (free titles only).
For vWii titles
- “Reencrypt Title Using Wii Common Key” : Allows you to reencrypt the title key in a vWii title’s Ticket before creating a WAD. This allows the WAD to be installed using a traditional WAD manager on vWii and extracted using legacy tools. It also allows WADs to be directly installed in Dolphin to run the vWii system menu without a NAND dump.
For DSi titles
- “Pack into installable archive (WAD/TAD)” : Allows you to create TAD files that can be installed on real hardware with tools like @rvtr’s TAD Delivery Tool or in DSi compatible emulators (free titles only).
How to use NUSGET
Download the latest version for your operating system and run the executable.
Platform-specific notes
- macOS : You need to open it
NUSGet.app
via right click > Open or run the commandxattr -d com.apple.quarantine NUSGet.app
from terminal. After doing this once, you can open NUSGET normally. - Windows : You may need to add an exception in Windows Defender or your antivirus to allow
NUSGet.exe
. This is because the app is not yet well-known enough to be “trusted” by Windows, and does not have a signing certificate. - Linux : There are no special requirements, but you can compile NUSGET to have it as an installed application with a visible icon in your favorite launcher.
Changelog
- NUSGet now displays a progress bar below the log text indicating the download progress of the TMD, Ticket, and each piece of content individually.
- Please note that this feature is currently only supported for Wii/vWii titles, as it depends on functionality present in libWiiPy but not yet available in libTWLPy .
- Due to the addition of the visual progress bar, the log text box has been slightly reduced, since in most cases there is no need to display much backlog text.
- It is now possible to manually set the color theme of NUSGet via the Options -> Theme menu in the menu bar.
- You can also manually set the interface language via Options -> Language .
- Finally, on macOS the configuration file is now stored in
~/Library/Application Support/NUSGet/
instead of~/.config/NUSGet/
.
Translations
The program is already available in the following languages:
- English
- French ( @rougets )
- German ( @yeah-its-gloria )
- Italian ( @LNLenost )
- Korean ( @DDinghoya )
- Norwegian ( @rolfiee )
- Romanian ( @NotImplementedLife )

Titles are downloaded to the folder NUSGet Downloads
, which is automatically created inside your local downloads folder. NUSGet is based on the libWiiPy and libTWLPy libraries .
Note for Windows users:
The binary files NUSGet-Windows-bin.zip
and NUSGet-Windows-x86_64-bin.zip
are identical, as are NUSGet-Windows-onefile-bin.zip
and NUSGet-Windows-x86_64-onefile-bin.zip
.
All future Windows releases will include the architecture they are compiled for (currently only x86_64 ), in order to make NUSGet’s compatibility with various platforms clearer.
Releases without the x86_64 designation are only included in this release to allow automatic downloaders to adjust to the new filenames before the old ones are removed.
