After two years, a new update has been released for Switch Layout Editor , an application that allows users to edit and preview files with the . .bflytand .bflan. extension used in the interface and games of the Nintendo Switch console.

These files are usually found in archives .szs, and once opened, you can double-click on them to edit them, provided they are supported.

The new version introduces support for layout diffing, which is essential for the Switch console’s firmware 20.0.

Those who have used previous versions to create layouts for this release may experience issues with the upgrade, as they may not be compatible with the updated installer.

Guide

Download the archive .zipand extract it to your PC.
Run the application Switch Layout Editor.exeand select a .szs/ .bflyt.
- Files .bflytare commonly found in archives .szs, when you open a file .szsyou can double-click files in the list to edit them (if supported).

If you are making a theme

Once you’re done editing, you can:

Save your changes to the file .szsand use it (it is illegal to share them publicly).
Export your theme as a JSON patch that you can use with Switch Theme Injector to create a file .nxtheme(you can share it, the file is legal).

Changelog

This update implements changes needed to support layout diffing for firmware 20.0. If you have used one of the previous versions to create layouts for 20.0, they may not work properly with the updated installer.
