A quick update has been released for the Android version of Ship of Harkinian , the port and FanMade project of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time by developer Waterdish .

The project is based on the long work of decompiling the original Nintendo 64 game , which allowed the code to be translated into compilable C, thus paving the way for modern versions on various platforms.

A similar decompilation project resulted in a PC port of Super Mario 64 in 2019, complete with support for modern graphics and ray tracing.

Ship of Harkinian for Android devices can only be played with a physical controller. There are currently no touchscreen controls available, while it is compatible with Android 4.3+ (requires OpenGL ES 3.0 or higher) and has been tested on Android 10 and Android 13.

In this release, the updated code from Ship of Harkinian version 9.0.2 has been integrated , maintaining a consistent naming with the official one. The game files have been moved to the root directory of the device’s memory for easier access.

Additionally, an issue that caused touchscreen controls to cut off has been fixed, although it should be noted that the game still requires the use of a physical controller to play.

Installation with PC (on any device)

Download and install the APK file from here: https://github.com/Waterdish/Shipwright-Android/releases (use soh.storage.apkif you are running Android 11+ as exposed storage requires additional permission).
Run this build on PC: https://github.com/HarbourMasters/Shipwright/actions/runs/6539782569 to generate a file oot.otrand/or oot-mq.otr. After launching the game on PC, you will be able to find these files in the same directory as the executable soh.exeor soh.appimage. On macOS, these files can be found in /Users/[Tuo Nome]/Library/Application Support/com.shipofharkinian.soh/.
Transfer the file oot.otr(and oot-mq.otrif you are using Master Quest) to Android/data/com.dishii.soh/files/.
Start the game.

Installation without PC (with less compatibility)

Download and install the APK file from here: https://github.com/Waterdish/Shipwright-Android/releases (use the “rompicker” version if you are using Android 11+).
Run the app at least once. This will generate the directory for the ROM.
If you are using soh.apk: Place the compatible ROM ZELOOTD.z64(check here: https://ship.equipment/ ) in Android/data/com.dishii.soh/files/. If you are using soh.storage.rompicker.apk: Select the ROM ZELOOTD.z64wherever you have it.
Select “Yes” when prompted by the app if you want to generate an OTR. Select “Yes” when it finds the ROM. The screen will go black for about 30 seconds. It may take longer depending on your device.
When asked if you want to rip another ROM, select “No” to launch the game.
The game should launch directly the next time you open the app.

Use the controller’s Back/Select/- button to open the upgrades menu. Use the touchscreen controls to navigate the menus.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question: Why does it say “No Rom Found”?
Answer: If you are using Android 10 or earlier, the ROM may not have been placed in Android/data/com.dishii.soh/files/. Check that it is present next to soh.otr. If you are using Android 11+, the ROM build is currently broken.

Question: Why does the game crash immediately?
Answer: Try deleting and re-extracting the OTR file ( oot.otr).

Question: Why are these changes not in the main Shipwright repository?
Answer: We are working on them.
