A large update has been released for Moonlight Switch , a fork of Moonlight -NX (formerly known as Moonlight -libretro ), which is a port of the Moonlight Game Streaming Project to modded Nintendo Switch consoles .

This project, developed to enable game streaming from PC to the Switch console, is based on an open-source implementation of the NVIDIA GameStream protocol, originally used for NVIDIA Shield devices .

To function properly, the tool requires a PC with a compatible NVidia graphics card for streaming from the PC to the Switch console.

To enable any streaming setup that features a resolution higher than 720p and a bitrate greater than 10 Mbps, it is imperative that you overclock your console’s CPU.

This requirement arises from the limitation of access to the GPU decoder, which means that all decoding operations must be performed by the CPU. However, the CPU may not be powerful enough to handle this task adequately.

The update introduces new features such as frame buffer queue management, support for Sunshine encryption, the ability to rename the host, and support for custom ports.

Also added stick dead zone configuration, reconnection attempt on unexpected error, and French localization with keyboard support.

Improvements have also been made, including a new dedicated Moonlight Switch forwarder NSP generator , multithreading optimizations for a more responsive interface, and better debug statistics.

Finally, fixed issues with CURL crashing when pinging the host, and bugs related to two-finger scrolling and right-click gestures.

Installation

Download the latest version of Moonlight-Switch.
Copy the file Moonlight-Switch.nrointo the directory sdcard:/switch/Moonlight-Switch.
Launch hbmenu via title redirection (for full RAM access).
Launch Moonlight. Or download it from HB App Store .

Mouse

With the touchscreen you can move the cursor, tap to left-click, and swipe with 2 fingers to scroll.
When you touch the screen, the and buttons will function like the left and right mouse buttons.
Additionally, by touching the screen, the thumbsticks and will function as a scroll wheel.
The USB mouse works too.

Keyboard

To display the on-screen keyboard, touch the screen with 3 fingers.
The USB keyboard also works.

Gamepad

By default, the Switch gamepad is configured as an X360 gamepad (A/B and X/Y swapped). Key mapping is available in the app settings.
Up to 5 gamepads are supported (including handheld mode). Joy-Cons are also supported.
