A new homebrew developer competition for the PlayStation Vita , called ReiHEN , has been announced, with a starting prize pool of $700 in cash.
Less than two years after the success of FuHEN , the contest that gave birth to appreciated projects such as VitaHot , Purified and notable ports such as The World Ends with You , the initiative is led by two well-known faces of the scene: Zealous Chuck , a veteran YouTuber, and 2Old4Gaming , active since 2014 with contents and books entirely dedicated to Sony’s portable console.
ReiHEN , a term that evokes a spiritual change, was born with the aim of celebrating the vitality and legacy of the PlayStation Vita , today considered a true icon in the world of portable consoles.
Thanks to a mature, accessible development environment rich in tools such as Unity and GameMaker, the platform lends itself perfectly to new original creations, utilities and porting games from other consoles.
The competition will officially open on July 21st, but participants can submit their work until October 7th. Projects can be completely new games, tools and plugins useful for the scene, or adaptations of existing software.
Winners will receive cash prizes divided by category, while those wishing to contribute to the prize pool can do so via Ko-fi donations, accessible from the competition’s official website.
While it is not yet possible to register, developers are invited to start their projects now by consulting the complete rules and evaluation criteria online.
The initiative once again confirms the strength and passion of the community surrounding the PlayStation Vita , a console that continues to surprise and inspire in 2025.
ReiHEN presents itself as a concrete opportunity to showcase your talent, contribute to the growth of the homebrew ecosystem and leave a mark on the history of a console that, despite the years, has never stopped living.
