The PlayStation Vita homebrew scene has taken another step forward with the porting of Raylib 5.5 , a powerful game development library, now available on Vita thanks to vitaGL as a graphics backend. This port is based on the initial work of Quenom (who implemented the PVR_PSP2 backend ) and has been adapted by Rinnegatamante to take full advantage of the PSVita hardware.

For all the Vita developers out there: Do you want to use Raylib?

Thanks to Quenom ‘s work in creating the PVR_PSP2 backend for Raylib, I’ve adapted his port to use vitaGL as a backend. This means we now have a performant and working version of Raylib for PSVita, ready to create games and applications!

Port Features

Full Graphics  – All Raylib 5.5 features are supported
vitaGL Backend  – Maximum performance thanks to OpenGL rendering optimized for Vita
GLSL Support  – Modern shaders and advanced graphics effects
Broken Audio  – Currently the only significant limitation

How to Compile and Install

To compile the port, make sure you have:

SDL2 fork by Northfear (with lifetime supportGL)
vitaGL compiled with HAVE_GLSL_SUPPORT=1

Then, do:

bash

Copy

Download

cd src
 make clean &&  make -j $(nproc)  &&  make  install

Conclusion

This port makes Raylib an excellent choice for PSVita game development, combining the ease of use of the library with the performance of vitaGL . If you are a homebrew developer and want to create 2D/3D games quickly, this is the tool for you!

Only audio missing? This will probably be fixed in the future, but in the meantime… happy coding!
