Developer zecoxao has updated NAND Group Dumper , an older SpecterDev project originally compatible with PlayStation 5 firmware 3.xx and 4.xx , to a newer format.

NAND Group Dumper allows you to extract NAND group dumps from the PlayStation 5 console’s flash memory , saving them to a USB stick in a folder namedPS5.

Each resulting dump has a fixed size of 64 MB, for a total of 192 MB of extracted data.

Group 0 : Contains the secret MBR table, the IPL (Initial Program Loader), and the secure and encrypted kernel modules. It is a critical part of the console operating system.
Group 1 : Includes Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module data.
Group 2 : Contains the blob related to the Titania SSD chip (initially identified as EAP KBL blob, but later corrected).

Each resulting dump has a fixed size of 64 MB, for a total of 192 MB of extracted data.

Purpose and use

NAND Group Dumper was designed for the PS5 developer and research community. Its main purpose is: </span

Preservation and Analysis : Provide a way to extract and study the contents of NAND, useful for reverse engineering the operating system and its security measures.
Modding Support : Dumps can be used to decrypt encrypted components or to develop more advanced homebrew tools.
Diagnosis and Repair : In theory, it could help diagnose hardware problems or recover data from damaged consoles, although this requires advanced skills.

How it works

To use NAND Group Dumper you need:

A vulnerable PS5 : The console must be on an exploitable firmware (e.g. 3.00-4.51) and have an active jailbreak, such as the one based onSleirsgoevy’s kstuff .
A USB device : Formatted in FAT32 or exFAT, with enough space for the dump files (at least 192 MB).
ELF Execution : The filenand_group_dump.elfis loaded via a payload loader (e.g. via the Webkit or BD-J exploit), often using a host. Once executed, the program automatically extracts the three NAND groups and saves them to the USB device.
Mandatory Reboot : After the dump, it is recommended to reboot your console to avoid instability or bricking risks, as pointed out by the developers.

Newer versions have introduced improvements such as automatically creating the “PS5” folder on the root of the USB and disabling the network during the process, reducing the risk of errors.
