A quick update has been released for esp-ps5-payload-sender , the ESP8266 -based web server implementation designed to host exploits for the PlayStation 5 console .

The server uses the ESP8266 module to create a Wi-Fi access point (AP) that the PlayStation 5 can use to access a page via the “User Guide” in the console settings.
This allows WebKit-based exploits to be executed to gain unauthorized access to the system (jailbreak).
If you have the ESP Host FPKG application installed on your console , you can directly access the web page hosted by the device and from there send commands to upload the payloads.
One of the most used, kstuff-toggle , allows for example to enable or disable homebrew functions or the execution of unsigned code. This new version however only updates etaHEN to version 2.2b.
Characteristics
- Wi-Fi and DNS : The ESP8266 creates a Wi-Fi access point (by default “PS5_WEB_AP” with password “password”) and can act as a fake DNS server to redirect PS5 requests (such as those to manuals.playstation.net) to the local server.
- Exploits : Supports PS5 exploits, such as those based on work by idlesauce or TheFlow, for vulnerable firmwares (e.g. 3.xx-4.xx).
- Setup : Includes an administration page accessible athttp://10.1.1.1/admin.htmlto change settings such as the Wi-Fi SSID and password.
- Offline Mode : Can be configured to work offline, storing exploits in the ESP8266’s PROGMEM or SPIFFS memory, allowing jailbreaking without an internet connection after initial setup.
Requirements
- An ESP8266 device with at least 4MB of flash memory.
- A binary file (for example,
esp8266-nopayloads-nocache.bin
oresp8266-ps5-exploit-server-v1.xx.bin
) to flash onto the device. - For HTTPS support, you need to provide a valid TLS certificate and private key.
Usage
- Flash the firmware on the ESP8266 using NodeMCU PyFlasher (Windows, macOS) or esptool (Windows, macOS, Linux).
- Connect the PS5 to the ESP8266’s Wi-Fi.
- Go to the User Guide in your PS5 settings to load the exploit page.
- After jailbreaking, you can install packages like ESP Host FPKG to simplify future access.
Warnings
- Exploits are mainly intended for developers and researchers, as they have limitations and unguaranteed stability (about 80% according to similar sources).
- Compatible PS5 firmware (e.g. ≤4.51) is required.
- Cache issues in the User Guide may require the use of payloads such as webkit-cache-remover to avoid conflicts with older versions of the exploit.
Changelog
- Updated etaHEN to version 2.2b.
