Developer Evilnat has released a quick update for PS1/PS2 EMUs Installer , the little tool allows us to install and update PS1 and PS2 emulators on modified PlayStation 3 consoles .

The app is compatible with custom firmware from version 4.85 to 4.92 and allows the download and installation of packages dedicated to the two emulators.

There are two main versions available: one that installs the official (OFW) emulators compatible with Cobra, and another that includes modified emulators from mrjaredbeta and kozarovv, enriched with extra features.

ps2_netemu.self (MOD)

WARNING! The new fan control features require a specific patch in firmware level LV1. The emulator is not compatible with firmware that does not include this patch. More details are available here: PSDevWiki – Patch System Manager .

To set the fan to manual mode, press in the main menu and use the following controls:

– Decreases speed by 1%.
– Increases speed by 1%.
– Decreases speed by 5%.
– Increases speed by 5%.

In manual mode, the fan speed is limited between 21% and 80%. Attempting to go above 80% will have no effect, while going below 21% will automatically re-enable Syscon (automatic fan control) mode.

Caution: Keeping the fan between 21% and 30% for a long time may damage your PS3. Once you set the fan speed manually, the fan will not increase if it overheats. Only use this range if you are sure that your PS3 console is not having temperature issues .

To set a new automatic fan mode, press + in the main menu.

This mode offers four settings that can be selected by successively pressing + : 60°C, 65°C, 70°C and 75°C. The fan will try to maintain the selected temperature by automatically adjusting its speed.

Initially the speed may be high, but after 2-3 minutes the system will find the minimum speed sufficient to maintain the chosen temperature.

When the 75°C mode is set, the next press of + will return the fan management to Syscon mode .

Acoustic signals

The application uses beeps to communicate the outcome of the update:

One beep : Update completed successfully.
Two beeps : Firmware not supported.
Three beeps : Error during update.
