A new update has been released for the alternative and minimalist version of ps3netsrv-go , the program allows us to install games on jailbroken PlayStation 3 consoles using WebMAN/IrisMAN over the network, without having to physically copy the files to the console.

The project was born out of the difficulty of reading and compiling the original ps3netsrv code on different platforms, while it was also developed for fun and education, in order to understand and implement custom network protocols and generate/serve ISO images on the fly.

Ps3netsrv-go was written in Go , as cross-compilation is much easier than in C/C++ and the resulting binaries work without external libraries on the target system.

The new update introduces several technical optimizations and internal improvements to the project. Among the most notable are the automatic tuning of parameters GOMAXPROCSand GOMEMLIMIT, updated support for Go 1.24 and Go 1.25 , as well as the removal of the dependency on afero in favor of a proprietary interface for filesystem management.

At the same time, various libraries and internal components have been updated, improving overall stability and performance.

Characteristics

Written in Go to facilitate cross-compilation and to ensure that the resulting binaries run without external libraries on the target system.
Currently, multipart files are not supported.
Supports TCP data exchange timeouts to reduce “hung” connections.
Now supports receiving files from the console (enabled with the flag --allow-write).
Supports on-the-fly decryption of 3k3y/redump images, with key lookup that fully matches the behavior of the original ps3netsrv.

Running the server

To start the server, run the command: ps3netsrv-go serveror specify a custom root directory with the flag --root:ps3netsrv-go server --root=/home/user/games

Configuration

The server supports configuration via environment variables and command-line flags.
You can also use a configuration file with configuration keys that match the command line flag names without the --.
Configuration files are searched in the following order:
1. Flag --configor environment variablePS3NETSRV_CONFIG_FILE
2. Files config.iniin the current directory.
3. Operating system-specific directory for user configuration files.

Server Exposure Tips

Restrict access by IP address with the flag --client-whitelist.
Limit the number of clients with the flag --max-clients.
Set idle connection timeout with the flag --read-timeout.
To expose your server behind NAT, you can use ngrok TCP tunnels or a reverse SSH tunnel to a host with a public IP.

Safety

To secure the connection using TLS, one can use TLS terminators configured with mutual TLS authentication, noting that the desired terminator must support “wrapping” simple TCP connections to TLS with a client certificate.
