A new update has been released for the PS3 Toolset framework , the only solution that currently allows you to install a Custom Firmware on consoles that have a factory firmware equal to or lower than version 3.56.

Users who own a model compatible with the installation of a Custom Firmware and who are on the official firmware version 4.92 can perform the Jailbreak by accessing the ps3toolset.com website directly from the console’s browser.

Console compatibility can be checked directly by visiting PS3 Toolset from the PlayStation 3 console : an on-screen notification will clearly indicate if the device supports the installation of a Custom Firmware.

Compatible models include all PS3 FAT and early Slim versions, while unsupported consoles can use PS3HEN, which offers similar functionality.

This update does not yet include the file manager, as a bug was found during testing that developers bguerville and esc0rtd3w are working on fixing.

To avoid delays in releasing support for 4.92, a two-stage release has been chosen. Additionally, this new release introduces an update to the XJS framework to version 4.3.

Custom Firmware Installation Guide

Note: Below is a guide for installing a Custom Firmware starting from firmware 4.87, provided that the console has a factory firmware equal to or lower than version 3.56. The same procedure can also be performed on firmware 4.91.

Supported models

Important

Warning: Flashing a corrupt firmware may permanently damage your console. Use at your own risk.

• Do not use this mod on SuperSlim CECH-4xxxA models , you may experience a console brick.
• Do not turn off your console once the flashing procedure has started , as this may also cause a brick to your console.
• Some PlayStation 3 models may have different cards (for example, if you sent the console for repair to some authorized centers or to some modders). In this case, it is always a good idea to check the factory firmware by installing the MinVerChk PUP file .

The PlayStation 3 web browser has minimal functions, but it still manages to perform the required operations, although with great difficulty. First of all, you need to disable the browser closure, delete Cookies, history and cache.

All these operations can be performed from the  [Tools] item , just press the button on the controller  inside the web browser.

Once this step is complete, you need to activate the console (if you haven’t already done so). The operation is relatively simple, log in to the  PlayStation Network , and from  [Account Management]  go down to  [System Activation] .

Guide

Note: Make sure you have set the time and date correctly from the console settings, otherwise the framework will not work.

• If your PlayStation 3 console is running firmware other than version 4.88, update it via the Internet.
• Connect the USB device into the port closest to the PlayStation 3 player .
• Run your web browser from the [Network] column and type the address http://www.ps3toolset.com .
• The PS3 Toolset framework from developer  Bguerville will be loaded .
• After loading the exploit, click on the third item [Flash Memory Manager] , in this screen all the information necessary for installing the Custom Firmware is highlighted, such as the factory firmware.

• Inside the tree menu, click on [Flash Memory Patch] and scroll down to [Download Patch file] .
• The file will start downloading to the USB device (press to start downloading the file nofsm_patch_488.bin).

• Once the file has finished downloading, always click on [Flash Memory Patch] and go down to [Load Patch from file] .

• From the file manager click on /dev_usb000and scroll down to nofsm_patch_491.bin.

• After selecting the file, click the [Load] button .

• Once the patching operation is finished, click the [Close] button at the bottom.

• Now all you have to do is apply the loaded patches, always from [Flash Memory Patch] , go down to the [Apply loaded Patch] item .

• You will see a popup that warns you that the flash memory patching operation, if not performed correctly, could lead to a brick. ONLY IF YOU FEEL SURE THAT YOU HAVE CORRECTLY PERFORMED ALL THE REQUIRED OPERATIONS, click on the Yes button .
• Once the patching operation is finished, reboot the console and install the Evilnat 4.91 Custom Firmware .
