Developer Nathan Martin , known in the scene as Evilnat , has released a beta version of Custom Firmware 4.92.2 for PlayStation 3 consoles , available in several variants designed to satisfy the needs of users with retail, debugged or converted consoles.

This new Custom Firmware, based on the latest official firmware version 4.92, aims to ensure maximum compatibility with the latest patches and introduces several advanced features.

Among the most notable new features is the return of support for the external Cobra payload, now loadable from USB, which offers greater flexibility in the use of background plugins and games in ISO format.

Another important addition concerns thermal management when emulating PlayStation 2 games , with improved fan control thanks to the new version of ps2_netemu developed by kozarovv .

Additionally, the ability to overclock directly from the XMB interface has been introduced, with specific adjustments for the GPU and VRAM, although this feature requires caution on consoles prone to overheating.

The firmware interface has been further refined with a new dedicated CFW tools menu, making advanced options like fan control, overclocking and other technical settings more accessible.

Evilnat has however stated that it is still a test version and has invited users to report any problems via his profile on X , @xXEvilnatXx . If the feedback is positive, the final version will be available within a few days, otherwise the optimizations will continue.

Important notices

Be careful when changing account IDs: it can corrupt trophies and saves.

OtherOS on NAND is risky: possible brick.
multiMAN : If you are unable to create ISO, switch to multiMAN mode from mmCM.
