The PS3Xploit team has released a new update for etHANol , the suite of tools for PlayStation 3 3000/4000 Slim/Superslim series consoles to allow the installation and use of the Package Manager and other tools on original firmware.

Unlike the more advanced Homebrew Enabler (HEN), etHANol is a more limited but still powerful solution, intended to expand the hacking possibilities on PS3 models that cannot be modified with traditional custom firmware.

Characteristics

• PSX/PSP license type allowed (sceNpdrmHeader control patched).
• Files ACT.DATand RIFs signed and allowed.
• Cinavia protection removed on HDD contents.
• Package Manager on OFW.
• Added support for debug PKG files (optional).
• ReactPSN workaround for OFW users.

Instructions for each instrument

PS3 HAN ACT/IDPS Dumpers

This tool will dump the activation file ( act.dat) and the IDPS .

1. Load the exploit page.
2. Select the destination path from the drop-down menu (default: /dev_usb000/).
3. Click on the “Initialize ACT/IDPS Dumper” button .
4. Once the initialization is complete, click on “Dump ACT.DAT & IDPS” .
5. The browser will automatically close by default.

PS3 HAN ACT/RIF Copier

This tool will write a act.datmodified and a .rif.

It is recommended that you re-sign all packages that require HAN Enabler , including converted packages and those that require rif activation .

1. Use Habib’s Resigner tool to re-sign the ref and create a new signed_act.dat.
   • Place the file act.datin the resigner folder .
   • Drag the corresponding rap file onto the Resigner executable .
   • Resigner Tool Repository: PS3Xploit Resigner
2. Rename the new one signed_act.datto act.datand copy it to a USB stick.
   • Keep a backup copy of the act.datoriginal file in a safe place .
3. Also copy the new ref file to the USB stick.
4. Load the exploit page.
5. Change the name of the RIF file to match the target (example for PS2 Placeholder : 2P0001-PS2U10000_00-0000111122223333).
6. act.datSelect the path where the / files are located .rif(default: /dev_usb000/).
7. Click on the “Initialize ACT/RIF Copier” button .
8. When the initialization is completed, click “Copy Files” to transfer the files to the HDD.

PS3 HAN Installer

This tool will copy files from USB stick to flash drive to enable OFW Package Manager .

1. Extract all files from the archive han_supportfiles.zipto the root directory of the USB stick.
2. Load the exploit page.
3. Select the file path (default: /dev_usb000/).
4. Click on “Initialize HAN Installer” .
5. Once initialization is complete, click “Launch HAN Installation” to copy the files to the flash memory and restart the console.
6. After reboot, you can use HAN Enabler and Debug Package Enabler.

PS3 HAN Enabler

This tool will initialize HAN using the previously copied files, allowing the use of OFW Package Manager and other patches.

1. Load the exploit page.
2. Click on “Initialize HAN Enabler” .
3. Once the initialization is completed, click “Enable HAN” to activate the patches.
4. Once the browser closes (default), you will be able to install HAN packages directly from the XMB.

PS3 HAN Debug PKG Enabler

This tool allows you to install Debug PKG packages .

1. Load the exploit page.
2. Click on “Initialize HAN Debug PKG Enabler” .
3. Once the initialization is complete, click “Enable Debug PKG” to activate the patches.
4. Once the browser closes (default), you will be able to install Debug packages from the XMB.
5. Restart your console before installing updates or retail/fake retail packages to avoid errors .

Important note for version 4.89+

There will be visual artifacts on the XMB and alignment issues in some elements and menus. This is because the DEX version of is required explore_plugin.sprxfor the Package Manager to work properly.

Currently, there is no workaround for this problem without a 4.89+ DEX file to replace. It is recommended to install the package HAN_489_Fix_272p_480p_Resolutions_signed.pkg, the same fix used by PS3HEN , created by Sandungas .
