Nintendo has also managed to block the Ryujinx emulator, to report the same developer gdkchan who on the Discord channel said it had stopped the development at the request of the Japanese company.
Ryujinx, an open-source emulator of the Nintendo
Switchessystem, was removed after creator contacted byNintendo and received a proposal to cease the project and remove all related content.
The news comes about seven months after the closure of Yuzu, another Switch emulator. Although the Ryujinx website is still active, the option to download the emulator has been removed.
Ryujinx allowed users to emulate Switch games on PCs and portable consoles, with the team also working on an iOS version and testing the emulator on Android devices.
The removal of Ryujinx follows YuzuYuzu’s after a legal agreement between the creators of the emulator and Nintendo.
The growing success of devices like Steam Deck and Asus Rog Ally, which emulate Switch games, may have led Nintendo to step up its action against emulation.
Although emulation promotes the use of legal ROMs, communities linked to emulators often overlap with groups that favor game piracy.
