A new update has been released for Ludo , the minimalist frontend for running Libretro cores on Windows PC, macOS, and Linux.

This application stands out for having been written entirely in Go, an open-source programming language developed by Google in 2007, known for its simplicity, efficiency and modernity.

This contrasts it with RetroArch , which instead relies on more traditional languages like C and C++, offering a different approach both in terms of design and philosophy.

Ludo does not have the ambition to be a full-fledged emulator or a replacement for RetroArch , but it has a more specific goal: to demonstrate what Libretro is and how it works.

Libretro is an API that allows developers to create emulation frontends, separating the emulation logic from the user interface.

In other words, Ludo is a sort of “showcase” to showcase the potential of this API, with a minimalist design that highlights the Libretro ecosystem without overloading it with complex features.The update includes improvements such as new joypad mappings, a revamped interface, fixes for joypad detection, text shadows in dark mode for better readability, updated dependencies, and updated Libretro cores.
