Developer Fredrik Ahlstr?m, known for the development of the NitroSwan emulator on
NintendoDS systems, has just released the very first version of SwanGBA, the same emulator, only for the Game Boy Advance.
Just like NitroSwan, SwanGBA also lets you play WonderSwan (Color/Crystal) and Benesse PocketChallenge V2 games.
The emulator offers several features, including a menu accessible via the L+R key combination, which allows you to load games, save game states, manage video settings and controls.
Users can change aspects such as range and screen contrast, change button mapping or activate autofire.
In addition, you can also adjust the speed of execution of the games, choosing between modes ranging from 50% to 400% of the normal speed.
Another advanced option is overclocking EWRAM memory overclocking, which can improve performance but carries the risk of damaging the Game Boy Advance.
Despite its versatility, the emulator has some limitations. Some games suffer from speed or charts. For example, Mahjong Touryuumon is too fast, while Chou Denki Card Game requires manual initialization of NVRAM.
Other titles, such as Final Fantasy and One Piece, feature minor visual glitches, such as sprites appearing in the wrong moments or incorrect colors in the background.
