A new update has been released for TWiLight Menu++ , the open source frontend designed to replace the DSi Menu on Nintendo DS(i), Nintendo 2DS/3DS, and Nintendo DS flashcards.

TWiLight Menu++ allows you to run Nintendo DS(i), SNES, NES, GameBoy (Color), GameBoy Advance, Sega GameGear, Master System and Mega Drive/Genesis ROMs and Atari 2600/5200/7800/XEGS ROMs, as well as DSTWO plugins (if you use a DSTWO).

This new version introduces a significant improvement to the DSi menu music, offering a higher quality version that lasts over eight minutes to avoid cuts or repetitions.

In order not to burden the main installation, this new track has been made available as a separate add-on, with an SD card space requirement of approximately 32 MB.

Additionally, the visual aspects of the menu have been improved, with the original DSi interface color palettes, featuring white borders, being restored.

To ensure compatibility with existing custom themes, a new parameter called has been introduced in the themes UsernameEdgeAlphafile , which is disabled by default..ini

Those upgrading from previous versions won’t have to worry about manually reinstalling emulators or multimedia apps: the system will automatically detect their presence and enable the relevant entries in the Virtual Console and Multimedia menus.

However, for performance reasons, only the nesDS emulator and the image viewer built into TWLMenu++ are currently detected .

Finally, in DSi-based interfaces, a “Now Loading…” screen has been added that appears before the directory list loads, which is especially useful when loading interface music and sounds.

Characteristics

Boot DS, DS⁽ⁱ⁾ and DS⁽ⁱ⁾Ware ROMs from SD card and/or flashcard, via nds-bootstrap (provided with the app)!
- For flashcards, the flashcard kernel/firmware can optionally be used to launch games, but only for regular DS games and DS⁽ⁱ⁾-Enhanced games in DS mode.
- Over 100 DS⁽ⁱ⁾Ware titles can be played on flashcards in DS mode. (See this list for which can be played.)

What’s new?

To improve the visual fidelity of the DSi menu interface, the original user color palettes with white borders have been added.
- To prevent this change from impacting older custom themes, support has been added for a new .ini theme file setting called UsernameEdgeAlpha, which is disabled by default.
If your emulators and multimedia applications are from a previous installation of TWiLight Menu++ before the add-on system was introduced, the add-on flags Virtual Consoleand will be automatically created Multimedia, allowing you to continue using those applications without having to manually install the add-ons.
- For speed reasons, only nesDS and the TWLMenu++ image viewer are detected.
