A new update has been released for Direct Package Installer (DPI) , the tool compatible with Windows PC, MacOS, Linux and Android devices that allows us to view, send and install PKG files from the network directly on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 console .

Direct Package Installer mainly uses the GoldHEN payload server or, alternatively, the homebrew Remote Package Installer , and is compatible with several file hosting services, such as AllDebrid , RealDebrid , Google Drive , Mediafire , PixelDrain , and many others.

The application uses the Remote Package Installer API to insert PKG files directly into the PS4’s download queue, also offering the ability to preview the file before installation.

With this new update, Direct Package Installer introduces support for etaHEN DPIv2 , thus extending compatibility to PS5 consoles modified with this payload variant (although it currently only supports games from the PlayStation 4 console).

Additionally, automatic detection of the PlayStation 5 console’s IP address has been added , further simplifying initial setup and making connection quicker.

Guide

Direct download mode

Run the Remote Package Installer homebrew on the PS4.
Run DirectPackageInstaller application on PC.
Enter a direct download URL address in the “PKG URL” field of the program.
Click “Load” and wait.
Click “Install” and wait again.
Done, you can close DirectPackageInstaller or shut down your computer.

Proxy download mode (faster)

Run the Remote Package Installer homebrew on the PS4.
Run DirectPackageInstaller application on PC.
Go up Options -> Proxy Downloadsand select the option.
Enter a direct download URL address in the “PKG URL” field of the program.
Click “Load” and wait.
Click “Install” and wait again.
Done, you can not close DirectPackageInstaller.

Segmented download mode (faster)

Make sure you have enough free space on your computer’s disk.
Run the Remote Package Installer homebrew on the PS4.
Run DirectPackageInstaller application on PC.
Go up Options -> Segmented Downloadsand select the option.
Enter a direct download URL in the “PKG URL” field in the window.
Click “Load” and wait.
Click “Install” and wait for the PKG to be preloaded.
Done, you can not close DirectPackageInstaller.

Download from compressed files (always proxy)

Run the Remote Package Installer homebrew on the PS4.
Run DirectPackageInstaller application on PC.
Enter a URL address for direct download of the compressed file in the “PKG URL” field.
Click “Load” and wait.
[Optional] Select the correct PKG file from the file list.
Click “Install” and wait again.
Done, do not close DirectPackageInstaller or turn off your computer.

Warnings

Due to random access issues in compressed files, the RAR direct download feature may not be as reliable, although it has been tested in some games, it has not been tested enough to guarantee its reliability.
The proxy feature itself has been proven to work in games over 90GB and I believe it to be relatively stable as it depends on the internet connection and download server.
Compressed file downloads generate a temporary PKG “cache” on your hard drive, which will require free space based on the size of the PKG file on your hard drive.
