As the years go by, the lithium batteries in PSP consoles degrade, reducing battery life and affecting the gaming experience. To address this need, BatterySteve was born , a simple homebrew designed to measure the battery life and performance of the small portable console.

This tool is designed for those who want to diagnose the battery condition, evaluate the residual autonomy and plan any replacements.

BatterySteve requires firmware version 6.60 or higher and ARK-4 installed . It is not backwards compatible: we recommend updating to 6.61 and installing ARK-4 to ensure proper operation.

The software is not designed for use on PS Vita and will not provide reliable results on that device. It is not recommended to use it to test battery life on PS Vita consoles.

While performing the test, it is important to carefully monitor the behavior of the device and the temperature of the battery. If you notice any abnormalities or overheating, it is advisable to immediately stop the test and let the console cool down.

Characteristics

Renders a 2D+3D scene to give the system a “real” load.
Choose between a CPU speed of 222 or 333 Mhz.
Works with all PSP models (1000, 2000, 3000, Go, Street).
Compatible with official Sony and third-party batteries*.
It runs until the battery runs out and shows the next run time. It also saves the last run in score.old.txt!

Requirements

A PSP with custom firmware (CFW) .
At least 3 MB of free space on the Memory Stick.
Note for PSP Street/GO users : On these models it may be necessary to start the test by pressing Select only when the battery is fully charged .

Due to limited power management, the device may not detect the charging status correctly.
