Tuy nhiên, gần đây đã xuất hiện một phiên bản giả mạo (Unofficial Mod) tự xưng hỗ trợ các bản Firmware từ 4.82 đến 4.89 do nhóm P-PX Team phát hành.

1. P-PX Team PS3 Toolset: Tại sao nó nguy hiểm?
Công cụ này được quảng cáo là bản “mod” lại từ bộ Toolset chính thức, nhưng thực chất nó là một bản sao chép không hoàn chỉnh và thiếu các cơ chế bảo mật quan trọng:
- Không có mã nguồn tin cậy: Khác với bản gốc được kiểm chứng, công cụ này chạy các script không rõ nguồn gốc.
- Gây Brick máy (Hỏng phần mềm hệ thống): Nhiều báo cáo từ người dùng cho thấy sau khi chạy công cụ này, máy PS3 bị lỗi khởi động (Brick), không thể vào được Recovery Mode, biến chiếc console thành “cục gạch” đúng nghĩa.
- Ăn cắp dữ liệu (IDPS/PSID): Có nghi vấn công cụ này bí mật thu thập mã định danh máy của bạn để sử dụng cho các mục đích bất chính (như unban máy khác hoặc bán mã).

As many of you know of these details or even just some, there are many who still need to be educated on this subject for the awareness, so you can make the proper choice to keep your PS3 Hardware safe. There have been various so called “clone’s” or even “mirror’s” of the PS3 Toolset by Bguerville (the tool that allow your to install CFW after it patches your Flash with the Flash Memory Manager (FMM) function), they are more like “imposter’s” in my view because they’re implying something they are not and purposely misleading people to thinking it’s safe just like the official one, when its not safe. However this imposter can be very dangerous to your hardware and even cause a brick to your console, It’s true, you will see reports of it working, but its not the whole story,There is also many reports of bricks when error’s occur (and they will randomly occur in this incomplete version).
This first started when a guy by the name of “aigon” had posted on github a reversed portion of the PS3 Toolset, that was of an older version of the official toolset and he had said in his ReadMe “It’s not a full dump, I only focused on happy path, of flashing” and then goes on to say “Original Toolset uses .php files in which i could not dump (for obvious reasons) I couldn’t dump, so most of them are just plain HTML outputs of the scripts. The file3.php is my dummy minimal implementation which makes all this stuff work” The problem with this incomplete dump it only focused on some functions and removed all the protections, security and various checks to prevents bricks on your hardware, Those were left out because it could not be fully reversed, but to make it all work with an incomplete dump there was some hacking and slashing going on to essentially fool the tool to perform the functions it was otherwise designed to reject . This was just to get it to “work” that was aigon’s only goal at that time was for preservation he says, but not the brightest move since it was a closed source tool (and still online at that time) and also one that could be abused and sadly we have seen that occur, Aigon himself didnt even realize the full potential of issue this would cause, but lets be clear he was never the person who setup this online for user’s to use. That was taken by some disrespectful scene sites’s just trying to promote themselves at the expense of other ‘s hardware while trying to hide the danger’s.
Aigon did come to the forum here and make a recent post recently he had this to say:
“Hi, I’m the author of (now unfamous) bgtoolset dump. I’ll be honest with you – if I was aware, what mess this will cause, I wouldn’t make this dump in a first place. My biggest mistake was making this public,” “I thought, that spinning this is up is not an easy task, will be enough barrier for anybody, except people determined enough, to even try mess with it. The “Russian Clone” or rather the “Russian Imposter’s” have been trying to look as official as they can it seems, they have bought domain’s to try and mimic being the PS3Xploit Team (when they are not), the readme that aldostools mention’s in this post and screenshot back then is now different as they have removed the language and text about it being a “partial dump” and the incompleteness of it. They seen our warning here by other devs like aldostools and they have seem change the readme. They have been obviously trying to hide the danger’s of it, while trying to leech on the creditably of bguerville and the PS3Xploit team while fooling the community for their own personal gains . We have not seen conformation about this, but some have suspected and it would not surprise me that these imposter’s have code to steal Console Information for resale (like for PSN bans). This could be speculation or there could be truth behind it (their actions suggest they do not care about your hardware), we do not know either way as it has not been proven (yet) but that is something to be aware of as a possibility and seems like it could be likely. Just beware !!!!
They have it labeled as a “Mod” in the title, sadly that is the most respectable thing they have done, but they keep all of bguerville’s thanks and quote’s while removing his personal links in place of the russian scene site’s information and details. They have been sketchy to say the least, but running an exploit from the PS3 Internet Brower’s. A browser that i think we all can agree, SUCKED f. So removing protections that have been in place and the incomplete code being used when its writing to flash and is using that buggy Browser is asking for disaster How stable is something incomplete and then repurposed by 3rd tier “modders”?
BEWARE OF YouTuber’s who are promoting bad incomplete work. There are some good YouTuber’s who are part of the scene @MrMario2011 is a good one that we see often around here and there are other’s but alot of other’s with bad advice and not understanding of the projects or content they cover. Like i said beware and make best decisions for yourself.

- They stated they did not care if people bricked PS3’s as they were cheap to get again. Really bad statement on this guy (young kid) but expected with actions and he calls himself on discord ( @JamesIsWack (the bgtoolset guy)) ..
