PS5: etaHEN 2.0b and ItemzFlow 1.09 released + PKG install Writeup by LightningMods

Developer LightningMods has released etaHEN 2.0b, following several months of this version being in Beta (or pre-release, depending on how you look at it). Due to the nature of the tool being open source, a lot of you have been using the beta version for quite some time now, but it is great to see it “officially” out as a stable release.

With recent improvements in porting kstuff to more firmwares, this new release should be compatible all the way up to firmware 6.50 if I’m not mistaken.

The release also ships with ItemzFloW 1.09, a new release of the Game browser

In parallel, LightningMods has published a writeup on how to install PS5 PKG Files, which explains how things have changed since the old writeup by hacker flat_z

What is etaHEN/ItemzFlow for PS5?

EtaHEN is a payload that runs on a Jailbroken PS5, and basically acts as a Custom Firmware for the PS5. EtaHEN leverages lower-level exploits and utilities (depending on your Firmware, either Byepervisor or ps5-kstuff), in order, among other things, to run PS5 Apps. This includes Homebrew, but also PS5 “backups”, aka decrypted PS5 games.

EtaHEN also has support for runtime patches and mods (such as 60 FPS Mods by Illusion), and other QoL improvements such as Debug Settings menu and the like. It is somewhat comparable to GoldHEN on the PS4, although with less features for now. But that number has been growing steadily since its inception.

It is also well integrated with LightningMods’ Itemzflow, a really nice looking interface that lets you display and run PS5 Homebrew and backups, as well as PS4 games.

ItemzFlow is an Open Source alternate menu for your hacked PS5 or PS4, with a gorgeous interface. The tool also offers some additional functionality that are directly accessible for each game, such as a dumper, a possibility to access/activate patches and trainers, some repair tools (e.g. to avoid having to lose all of your fpkg content in case of PS4 data corruption), theme support, and more.

EtaHEN 2.0b. What’s new?

This is the official (and massive) changelog for etaHEN 2.0:

PKG Install on PS5 – Writeup by LightningMods

In parallel to releasing etaHEN 2.0b, LM has published a detailed explanation on how etaHEN allows the system to install PKG files onto a hacked PlayStation 5 (with additional credit to Astrelsky).

Things have changed since the original PKG install writeup for PS4 by flatz. Whether you’re just curious to learn how this works in etaHEN, or if you plan to create your own installer, you’ll want to give it a read: here

etaHEN 2.0/ItemzFloW 1.09 – Download and install

You’ll need of course a Jailbroken PS5 in order to run etaHEN, specifically, it needs to be on Firmwares 1.00 up to 6.50 included. What you can do with etaHEN heavily depends on the underlying exploit you’re running, and whether or not your Firmware supports Byepervisor (firmware 2.70 and below) or ps5-kstuff (Firmwares 6.50 and below).
