Sony has surprisingly released firmware update 12.52 for the PlayStation 4 console , an update aimed solely at strengthening the system’s security.

The update does not introduce any new features or visible changes to the interface or user experience, but simply closes any potentially exploitable vulnerabilities in the jailbreak scene, without however affecting the system controller ( syscon ).

For most users, this is a recommended update to protect their personal data, while modders are advised not to install it to avoid losing exploits.

Installation can be done automatically over the network or manually via USB. If you encounter problems after the update, Sony recommends rebuilding the database or reinstalling the system from Safe Mode.
