A new update has been released for CleanRip , the tool developed by the developer emukidid that allows us to backup Gamecube and Wii discs via IOS58.

The application can create 1:1 backup copies of Gamecube and Wii discs for archiving purposes without custom IOS (cIOS) requirements. It supports USB 2.0, NTFS, FAT32 and front SD.

This release features several significant improvements. The speed of data extraction from the front SD card on the Wii has been increased thanks to updates to the libogc2 library .

Additionally, optimizations have been made in Datel disk dumping , while an automatic IOS exploit system has been implemented in case the app is not started via an updated version of the Homebrew Channel.

Another new feature is the automatic renaming of image files based on the information contained in the wii.dat, gc.datand datel.dat.

The full changelog includes documentation updates, fixes for issues with front SD selection, improvements to Datel dump file handling, support for the Wii Freeloader , and stability and crash prevention fixes.

Additionally, an exploit has been added /dev/shato disable AHBPROT , which is useful when the application is not launched with adequate privileges.

Known issues

Problems with NTFS

NTFS had problems in versions 1.0.2 and 1.0.3, but they were fixed in version 1.0.4.

Problems with modchips

When dumping GameCube games, if you have a Wiikey/Modchip installed, make sure the region patch is disabled, especially the Wiikey “Full GC Regionfree” feature, as it may cause faulty copies.

Download DAT for Wii

Downloading Wii/GC DAT files from redump.org fails. To manually obtain these files, download the latest version of the “Datfiles, Cuesheets, and GDIs compilation” from here . Extract the Wii and GC DAT files, rename them to wii.date gc.dat, and place them in the root directory of the device you intend to use to backup the discs.
